9 lasagna noodles
1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
2 cans (15 ounces each) ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 eggs
2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions; drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, and minced garlic over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and season with basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, eggs, and half the Parmesan cheese until well blended.
In a 9×13 inch baking dish, layer the ingredients: one layer of meat sauce, a layer of noodles, a layer of the ricotta mixture, and a layer of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers and finish with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, add additional herbs like oregano or thyme.
Allow the lasagna to rest before slicing to make it easier to serve.
