An elegant twist on the traditional Black Forest cake, this cake roll combines rich chocolate, cherry, and creamy frosting for a delightful dessert experience.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) cherry pie filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a jelly roll pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  4. Combine the dry ingredients with the egg mixture and add the vanilla extract.
  5. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before rolling the cake with parchment paper.
  8. Whip the cream with powdered sugar until peaks form and gently fold in the cherry pie filling.
  9. Unroll the cake, spread the cream mixture, and re-roll carefully.
  10. Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute some of the granulated sugar with brown sugar.
  • Serve with additional cherry pie filling on top.
