  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in cocoa powder, food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased and floured springform pan.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let cool before removing from pan.
  10. Prepare the cream cheese filling and spread it over the cooled cake.
