  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon pink food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the cake flour and 1 cup of the sugar. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy. Add the cream of tartar and salt, then continue beating until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually beat in the remaining sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the flour mixture into the egg whites, then add the water, vanilla extract, and food coloring.
  6. Pour the batter into an ungreased tube pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Invert the pan and cool completely before removing the cake.
